Latest projects

I wanted to show you all what I have been stitching of late. A friend of our daughter asked to have an R2D2 hat knitted so I was given the project. While knitting that our granddaughters watched & asked if I was going to knit them a hat. I then remembered I had a pattern for a cute kids hat with either a lady bug or a bumble bee. Since we live in the Greenville school district & their mascot is a yellow jacket & their colors are yellow & purple it was decided the hat should be of those colors. Here are pictures of both. I will be making hats for the other grandkids as soon as I know the colors they want. I just realized I forgot the bee's atenna. I will add that yet.

Last week we went on a much dreamed of cruise. We had an offer of a free one so took it. We did have to upgrade a bit in order for us to be able to do it as I needed a stateroom with a view or I would have a hard time not feeling trapped. It was fun but very tiring as there is way too much to do aboard ship.

In around all the dentist appointments we were blessed with a new grandson. William Nathaniel was born on Nov 16th. We was quite a bit smaller than his two big sisters. He weigh in at 6 pounds & 13 ounces & 20 inches long. This is a picture of him at birth. He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow.

Dentist trips

We hadn't been to the dentist in awhile & decided before we were going to be away from home for a week we had best get a couple dential things taken care of. We made appointments for regular cleanings. Found out we each had 3 teeth that needed fillings, mine were all on one side so one more appointment would take care of it. Ed's were on two sides & the dentist didn't want to numb both sides. So he had to go in twice. When I went in to get my 3 fillings the dentist informed me that one was too bad & would need to be pulled. Since he doesn't do that I had to make an appointment with a different dentist. BTW I was able to get the two fillings with out being numbed. A week later I had the tooth pulled, two days before Thanksgiving. About an hour after the tooth was pulled my face started to show signs of bruising. I had many people ask what was on my face. So I informed them I had a tooth pulled. The day after Thanksgiving another piece broke off the one tooth I just had filled so I had to go back again for a filling. There were two girls maybe ages 8 & 10. They both looked at me. I felt like saying a dentist did this to me but I figured I shouldn't scare them. We have sent nearly $1000 in dentist bills in the month of Nov. I hope that we don't have to go back to the dentist that much again.

It has been a long time since I added anything & have a lot to "tell" too. First off here is the logo for our new church. Then some GREAT news on the new church is that our Pastor has been looking for possible location for a building site. Sort of dreaming as we can't afford to buy land now. But he found a piece on the corner of M57/14 Mile Rd & Shout. He called on it just to find out more info. The guy wanted to meet with Pastor so he did. Long story short the guy ended up giving our 3 acres for free. Isn't that a wonderful act of God? Mr Brill (from H2Oasis) had bought this land awhile back with hope that a church would be buildt there. He offered it to his precent church they didn't want to build there. :) That too was God's doing so now many years later we could get it for our church. We do need to find a different place to meet until we can build as our township says we can't legally meet where we are now. But they aren't saying we have to get out right now. So we are praying & asking God to lead us to a place to meet or some how be able to build sooner than we think we can, but with God all things are possible, so maybe we can just build & move in to our own building.

Well I have long needed to do an update on the church situation. Sad to say it did not work out for the Pastor to stay at our church. But the good news is a fair size group of us decided we could not stay either as things were bad there. So we formed a group & then asked Pastor if he would come & be our Pastor. He said yes!!! :) :) So we are now a new church. We had 66 at Wed night service, which we are sure is more than the old church had that night. We are all so excited at forming a new church of people that are all on fire for the Lord. Our name is Amazing Grace Baptist Church. We even have a logo already will post it shortly.

Labor of Love

It finished. :) This is the quilt I have been working on for William our soon to be 15th grandchild. I make each of them a counted cross stitch quilt, each one has been different. This is the front, below is the back side & the design for the front came from liking the fabric for the back.

Well we have had some good news. The Deacons have met & a few major things have been ironed out & our pastor is willing to stay & see if things can be worked out & moved forward.

We found out that our pastor is going to leave as of Nov 1. He will stay until we find a new pastore if the Deacons ok that. We are praying he will be able to stay until the new pastor comes. We are very sad about this pastor leaving as in the 27 years of attenting this church this is the first pastor & his wife that we got to be friends with. Also he is very very fundamental & preaches right from the Bible. We have been much more active in the church from their encouragement. they will be sadly missed by us & many others in the church.

Our lastest "get done" project is to take down part of the barn we had for our goats & our daugher's horse. The roof had been getting really bad & we needed to do something for several years but have run out of time. Finally it got to the point that we HAD to do something. We have a ways to go yet before we are all done but we have it started now. The starting is the hard part.

At our last reenactment two of our granddaugthers watched me knit awhile & wanted to "knit" too. So I let them borrow my spare yarn.

We do Civil War Reenacting. This is our tenth year doing it. Now we don't do as many as we used to but we still do at least one a year. This is our tent & our daughter's tent set up together with the flies together for a bigger "living room" area. We cook our meals over an open fire in cast iron pots.
