More Yard

This is the back of the house. There were some autum olive trees growing right next to the house. This is the back yard right beside the dog pen. This after picture is the same area only taken from the deck.

This the rest of the area right behind the house looking from the deck. The one above is the left, then middle & far right. See our small path of stones?

The picture to the left is beside the garage. The one to the right is the new look of the driveway.

Yard Work

This is before we had anything done.

Big tree branch come off of what we call Snoopy's tree.
Mostly finished, there is to be a play house to the left of the tire sea serpent. The white barrels sitting there will be airplane. Oh the fun of doing things for the grandkids. :)

This is where we back up when leaving the garage. The after picture shows a cross that our friend made & felt it should go in our yard.

My latest sewing project which was also a try to make it last longer project too. We had a quilt we were using as a bedspread & it started to wear out. I had done fabric roller shades, dust ruffle & valances to match this quilt. I didn't want to have to redo them to match a quilt I had gotten on sale a few years ago. So I just redid the valances & did a ruffle on the quilt it's self as it was not long enough to cover the sheets. So I was able to keep the dust ruffle & the fabric shades. I am please with the work. What do you think? The old quilt is laying at the foot of the bed, can't give it up completely. Some day soon I will repair it for use as a cold day cover.

Tree

We live in an area with a lot of big oak trees. A couple of weeks ago the county road crews were out trimming back branches that hang over the road. One of our trees needed to have some branches taken off. When they got up in the rig to do it they discovered it was hollow inside. They asked if they could cut the whole tree down. We said yes as we figured it was safer to have them do it as to have it fall down itself some time. It looks funny out there with out it. We still need to get it all cut up & cleaned out.

Lap Full

Yesterday Becky & her three kids came over so I could help her do some thinking on how to change a pattern. This is what I ended up doing as Sarah saw the "new" books Grandpa & Grandma had gotten while on vactaion & she wanted me to read to her. I was already holding William but that didn't stop the two girls from finding a corner on Grandma's lap to hear the story. It was interesting for me to see the book between heads but we did get the story read. I think we did two or three this way. It was a fun way to spend my birthday too. Wish all the grandkids could have been here too.

Vacation

We had to use us some points of our timeshare deal, so we found a place close to home. It was a bit over an hour away. This is a picture of the place we stayed that seemed to be out in the boon docks. It was a nice timeshare but we got a bit bored there as normally we like to do things in the general area. There was nothing close by to this place. We had to go to Big Rapids to do any shopping, which we did do. But we found ourselves feeling like we'd rather be at home so we went home a day early. We did get to see turkeys right outside the window & deer near by too.

Snow

I measured the front yard on the 15th & we still have 6 inches of snow on the flat spots & more in the piles from shoveling. We usually have a lot of robins that stop in in our back yard some time between March 6th & March 17th. We have not seen robins here yet. We have seen them in other spot in the area but not our back yard yet.
